Twister

Thank you Karlene for our fun twister demo today.  I didn't bring my camera, so I pulled a picture of the image off of the internet to show those of you that missed the demo.
Karlene had fun table runners, full size quilts and mini quilts.  After the meeting, I stopped by Joann's and they happened to have one of the rulers.  It is called the Twist 'n Stitch and is on sale for just over $10.  The one ruler cuts five different sized pinwheel blocks from 3" to 10".

Flower Block Swap

Are you ready?  Only a couple of weeks left until we swap our flower blocks and our nine patch blocks.  Remember, the blocks should be 9 1/2". For the nine patches, that means your smaller blocks should be cut at 3 1/2".

I'm not sure about you, but I can't wait to see them all!

We'll also be taking sign ups for the ironing mats at that time:)

What a great meeting yesterday!  It is always so much fun to catch up with everyone's lives and projects.  Sue did a wonderful job teaching the Cathedral Window class and has gotten rave reviews :)  Here is the link to the Cathedral Window Tutorial on my blog in case you missed it, or just as a refresher. And now that we are all experts on the Cathedral Window, here is the link to the pincushion that Annette was telling us about on Moda Bake Shop.

Be sure to get your blocks done for the Block Exchange next month.  We'll be sending out email reminders to all of those who have signed up.  Don't worry, we hand delivered the requirements and fabric sample to Francine, so her blocks will probably be ready by tonight :)

And We're Back

Sorry for not updating the blog for a while - it just got away from me:)

Over to the right, is our tentative schedule for 2012. We still need to ask people to teach/demonstrate a couple of things. This is not set in stone, if you have any ideas, please let us know. We are still looking for something to do in November. Does anyone have a class or technique that they would like to teach? What about a winter table runner?

This month, Sue Petersen will be teaching the Cathedral Window Table Runner Class.

Supply List:
For the Full Size Table Runner
15- 10 1/2" squares of background fabric - traditionally this is white, but you can use any fabric.
27 scraps of fabric at least 3" square
Sewing Machine and basic sewing supplies

If you don't want to make the full size runner, but still want to try the technique, you will need:
9- 10" squares
12 scraps at least 3" square

There is a lot of ironing involved. We have two irons that will be available. If you have your own iron and mat, you might want to bring it.

Remember to bring your show and tell - see you there!
